What made you decide to pursue a career in wardrobe styling and creative directing?
Fashion/art found an interest within me at the young age of 14 yrs old, I then took the talent god blessed me with and shared it , throwing fashion shows every three months, my old clothing line Coutur’e Parks Designz made a name for itself being more known for the accessories I made to accompany my designs in shoots or runway shows, I then left the apparel design business and focused on my accessories, shortly after being put into the Astrup stores, with my jewelry/accessories being a huge success word started to spread I was then invited to bring some pieces to the “all around the world tour” green room with Diggy Simmons, Omg Girlz, Lil Chuckee to then having the opportunity of having my work worn by Omg Girlz, Lil Chuckee in addition to wardrobe styling Lil Chuckee for that event. Soon after finding a passion/interest with wardrobe styling being asked to help artist/designers/family & friends with their style and brand identity it kinda of became my little niche naturally. Now I’m working with artist such as Sheon, Lizzo, Quentin Sound.
How do you combine the latest fashion trends effectively?
For me being a stylist it’s all about getting the look! but also not putting a hole in your wallet. I love thrifting, fashion is a cycle so everything that’s a “Trend” now was a trend 30 years ago sand it continues to go around, Your best chances of finding amazing quality pieces at an affordable rate is at your local second hand store, for men I suggest you shop in the women’s section and for women vice versa especially with today’s trends such as the Culottes pants that’s a huge trend picking up for men in Korea with designers such as Yohji Yamamoto, its traditionally a women’s garment but has made a transition into the menswear market. I’d also suggest checking out Pantone before going shopping so you can know what colors are in the season so you can still have your color palettes down, I’m in love with the toasted almond shade for this S/S ’15 color.
How would you describe your personal style?
My Style is The Urban Sophisticate, I keep an urban edge with my classy sophistication look, but I’ve notice lately I’ve been becoming more of a minimalist.
What types of accessories does your line offer and what is so special about your accessories?
Parcs & Parker is an (#NoLabels) capsule accessory line it ranges from briefcases to pocket squares, bow ties, clutches, ties, lapel pins, I want to convey confidence and strength within the collection the person that’s going to wear my pieces are very sure of themselves and wants’ a good statement piece. I’m excited for my S/S collection I will be introducing eyewear.
If you could leave our readers with one last piece of business advice, what would it be?
Yes, I would like to tell every person reading regardless of what field you’re in, you can’t take no for an answer, don’t wait for someone to make an opportunity for you, make it for yourself although it won’t be easy it’ll be 10x more rewarding, the moment you seek affirmation from the masses is the moment you’re looking for conformation.
