David Samuel’s Passion on Digital Marketing

What made you get into the digital marketing industry?

Digital marketing (in fact, digital everything) has always been a passion of mine. I started in telecommunications at the age of 18 and haven’t looked back. What I love about digital marketing is that it’s always evolving and changing, making it an exciting, challenging and rewarding career. I’ve always been into computers and was always the first out of my friends, family and colleagues to try out a new program or social network. As time went on, I build up my businesses and friendships using these social networks and it led me to develop a passion for digital marketing. I’ve spent so much time honing my skills over the years, learning and trying out new things, that I am completely confident in my ability to drastically increase client traffic to any small business in Australia.kol1

Digital marketing is a broad topic. Which part of digital marketing do you enjoy the most?

As I mentioned earlier, I love that the industry is constantly growing and expanding, and that new technology is getting more advanced than ever. I think using everything I’ve learned about digital marketing over the years to help people grow their businesses is what I love most about my job. Learning about every aspect of many different types of businesses also keeps my job interesting, and it gives me ideas for growing my own business in some cases! Another plus is that it allows me to travel. I can bring my laptop anywhere, anytime which gives me a flexibility that really suits a father of 3 such as me.

You mentioned you’re involved in mental health. How did you become involved in mental health, and what type of involvement do you have?

There was a time in my life when one of my early business endeavors collapsed and I went from having it all to having nothing. I had to sell my house, my car, my building and sack 63 employees. This sent me into a deep depression that I came out of thanks to the support of my friends and family. Having been in that headspace, I decided I would create a website where people can gather information about anxiety and depression, and get help if needed. My wife is a counselor, and she also dedicates time to the foundation. We have both been through depression and anxiety, and battling these debilitating diseases has brought us closer together. I think that it is even easier to overcome it when you have someone by your side that knows what you are going through personally. I try to dedicate time every week to my website www.limelight.org.au making sure it is up to date and informative so it’s of the upmost help to people searching for it.

Give us a case study of one of your most enjoyable or challenging projects

Our first ever client for platinum ‘in awe salon’ is ranked Page 1 on Google, and it’s been super exciting seeing her clientele grow seeing as hairdressing salons are just everywhere! Every client is enjoyable to me, because when you’re passionate about what you do, you are fulfilled with every success. The best days are when I get a personal call or emails describing how happy someone is with the service I’ve provided them, which makes me feel great.

If you could leave our readers with one last piece of business advice, what would it be?

Be smart about the way you set up your business. Sometimes you may need or want to sell your business, you may have lost your passion or life could throw you a curveball. It’s comforting to know you can sell your business for a tidy profit, and potential buyers will pay a lot more for a business that runs itself. No one wants to buy a job, so make sure you set up your business with an endgame in sight. Plan everything, down to the very smallest detail.
